derry: (totally awesome)
Today my roommate and I went to a little outdoor craft fair. It was very nice! The weather was beautiful--sunny and mostly clear and a bit windy, 10/10! I ended up buying a few scrap lengths of a beautiful flower-patterned denim fabric. No idea what I'll use them for, but I'm sure I'll think of something. :p

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is so, so fucking good. I wouldn't say I love it more than its predecessor Human Revolution, just because HR has a super special place in my heart--but omg I adore it. The setting is stunningly crafted--I'm a huge fan of the mixture of old buildings and sci-fi elements. I'd heard Prague was beautiful (I hope to visit the city one day!) but if they modeled even part of it after the real thing--wow. All those little cobblestone alleys and narrow plazas and winding roads!! *heart eyes* Plus, the guy whose walkthrough I'm watching keeps showing me new nooks and crannies of the city that I hadn't realized were there. I was a little doubtful about the European setting at first, but I guess they were going for exactly that blend of old world/new world that I've now ended up feeling so fond of.

The Winter Olympics continue to be fun to watch! I've been talking about them to my godmother & it's so lovely to get in some Swedish practice. The other day I recorded a very awkward video for her in which I showed her my Olympics knitting project--a sweater which I'll only work on when I watch the games. :D She sent me voice messages to give me some Swedish to listen to, which was so lovely! I hope we'll manage to schedule a proper phone call soon. Omg anxiety, but I know she doesn't mind when I make mistakes. She's fluent in German, so we can always settle on that when my Swedish fails me.

I would like to knit faster/more, but I've had to be careful not to overdo it. All it takes for my wrists to start hurting is a little too much knitting these days. :/ It's frustrating, but I really don't want this issue to turn into even more of a chronic thing than it already is. I might have to go back to the doctor to get the problem re-assessed.

I think spring is finally approaching! I cannot wait for sunnier, warmer days, you guys. I'm so ready to go to a local park and write, or knit, and take even more walks and get some precious vitamin D.

To Do list for next week:
  • bake apple pastries
  • iron & hem the first 2 lining sections for my circle skirt
  • start editing Garashir post-2x22 DS9 fic
  • perhaps finish Garashir 5x16 interlude fic
  • make a spring cleaning to-do list
  • tidy & do some work in my bedroom
  • dust plants

I can't remember whom I stole this from--please let me know if you recognize your meme format, I want to give credit when credit is due!

Watching: the Winter Olympics! I used to bond with my father over our shared love of winter sports, and I think it'll be nice to remember him--and the better parts of our often fraught relationship--over the next few weeks. I'm especially looking forward to all the skiing. If I cannot travel to Sweden for skiing adventures with my godmother I have to live vicariously through the Olympians.

Reading: A Stitch in Time by Andrew Robinson, a novel he wrote from Garak's POV. No spoilers, but so far I'm in love with this book even as it stresses me the fuck out, because Garak gets stressed the fuck out. Reading about his life makes my heart ache. I WANT HIM TO HAVE NICE THINGS, goddamn it.

Making: lining for a circle skirt I made in 2015 & had to partially disassemble because my ass has outgrown its dimensions. I'm still at the cutting-out-fabric stage, and since I possess no sewing skills worth mentioning, I expect assembling it & sewing it to the outer layer will be quite a hassle.

Feeling: a little meh, honestly; my mood took a hormone-induced nosedive this past week. I'm slowly picking myself back up off the proverbial ground though. Tonight, I am mostly feeling hopeful that the upcoming week will be better!

Planning: some general life improvement shit, like finally buying my very own fridge! (Eeek. That feels so... adult. I've never bought a fridge before.)

Loving: a pacifist YouTube walkthrough of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, one of my favorite games ever. It's still so good. I'll probably replay it soon as well. I sense a tidal wave of Adam Jensen feels approaching from that part of my brain that never stops thinking about Deus Ex. :D
