I was not brave, I did not start my sock heel. But it's a new week, I am in less pain, and the weather will be wet and cold, so I know I will want to be indoors more for crafty things! Also, haven't considered the way body pain impacts my creativity, but I think it might be time to. I don't think I did much of anything creative last week...

In other news, my manager is getting tested for hypermobility, and we've chatted about body things so she brought it up in relation to me and I... It might explain some things. Like the knee dislocation/sprain that I had a few years ago (and couldn't afford to see a doctor about at the time). And being so flexible without ever actually feeling stretched. I fit a lot of the criteria, and it is definitely something I'd like to talk to a doctor about (whenever I manage to find one who is actually accepting new patients and accepts my insurance). I was already trying to focus my exercise stuff on building stability so I can get back to running when the weather gets warmer, but I may need to pivot a little more to make sure I'm protecting my joints and ligaments a little better.

Routine
  • GYWO: Write 20 minutes 0/4
  • Exercise: 1/2
  • Bullet journal: 1/7

Tasks
  • Sock knitting: Start heel
  • Northern lights rolags: Spin 0/20 minutes
  • Return CDs to EV library
  • Set up optometrist appointments!

Delaying
  • Steam finished handspun
  • Plan Calad shirt modifications
  • Hem curtains
  • Plan Ren Faire outfit?

Title: Rules of Catharsis
Author: nostalgicatsea
Universe: MCU
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Word Count: 266
Summary: Contrition alone could neither save nor damn him. Only the wronged held that power. But Tony was gone, unable to answer him, and Steve wondered who else could grant him the reprieve that came through absolution or castigation.
Note: This is more implied Steve/Tony and is heavily focused on Pepper & Steve and Steve & Morgan, but since Tony haunts the entire fic and drives Steve through it, I decided to include the Steve/Tony tag.

Read on AO3 or Dreamwidth.

  1. Do you know of any other words for snow? What's your favourite and why?
I know spanish (nieve), italian (neve), japanese (yuki), and slovenian (sneg). I think of them, yuki is my favourite!

  2. What's your ideal temperature range for winter?

If I'm indoors, let the elements do as they will! Outdoors though, 40s to 70s are ideal (which is maybe biased by western Washington's nd Phoenix's respective climates).

  3. Favourite winter activity? What about it makes it your favourite?

I don't know that I have any winter specific activities that I love! Maybe I should change that for next year...

  4. What are three things you can't do without when winter arrives?

Cozy blankets, stompy boots (for keeping dry and upright on ice!), and leggings to layer under 90% of my outfits for the season.

  5. Do you have favourite winter holiday activities?

I enjoy baking cookies to share with folks for Christmas! =)

KarQ posted two videos so far of new hero mythbusting, testing a bunch of interactions with all these new abilities in the game!  I found them super helpful:

Swiped from [personal profile] dolorosa_12! As someone who is over very educated (PhD in engineering) with parents who are decidedly... not (high school graduates), I thought it'd be interesting to talk about, if a little depressing.

I'm part of a panel later this month of people with "unusual paths to graduate school." I imagine I'm going to bring up a lot of this stuff there; I hope it resonates with at least one person in the audience. I have a whole stew of feelings about my background, to the point where it's difficult to even articulate. It's hard not to think about how my life might've turned out if my parents had been more involved, or educated themselves, or at least not constantly wrapped up in their own problems. But ultimately, it made me what I am, and I found my way eventually, even if I was stumbling around in the dark for a while.

three neat things!

A late-night update, because I’ve been on campus all day! But – three fun things to share!

First, my little “Primrose Magic” short story somehow managed to hit the number one bestseller in Amazon’s 45-minute LGBTQ, AND in 45-minute Sci-Fi & Fantasy short reads! Even more neat because it’s been out for a few days now! So thank you!!!

Second, the box set of my three MMM Regency polyamory novellas – As Many Stars, Marked Out with Greater Brightness, and A Thousand Kisses – is out now…in Kindle Select, so it’s Amazon exclusive for the first three months, and then it’ll go wide! We’re testing how that does. So if you want to grab the box set – with a pretty new cover and overall title! – come pick it up here!

Finally, it’s Smashwords sale time! Many of my books are 50% off – come and have a look, and grab any you might not have! And check out our other fabulous JMS Books authors too!

Okay, it’s late and time for bed, but I did want to share! Love you!

What I Just Finished Reading

Nothing. Migraine medication side effects happened and I was in bed for four days and unfortunately too tired to read. Plus migraines.

What I'm Reading Now

Comics Wednesday!

Avengers #36, Iceman Omega #1, Nova Centurion #5 )

What I'm Reading Next

It's that time of year again! The fabulous, well-organized fundraiser Fandom Trumps Hate is running its 2026 round, and bidding is currently open for the next 3 days, closing on March 7th. It's a tight window, so get in there and find what your heart wants!

As I did last year, I'm offering a podfic of a 15-20k work (I'm flexible within a few thousand words in any direction) up to an explicit rating. I will record for literally ANY fandom that isn't Harry Potter, and I'm super excited because I had such a wonderful experience in 2025.

If you're also offering something, I highly recommend you post about it! Every year I hear people make sad noises about how short the bidding window is, so the more we can raise awareness the better.

Given everything going on in the world, writing fanfic sometimes feels odd to me. But it is one way I can add joy to my life and hopefully also to someone else's, so…still writing. I hope all of you are safe and as well as can be.

I'm participating in the habit challenge on [community profile] getyourwordsout this year. It has been good encouragement to keep sitting down to write even on days when I'm feeling a bit stuck, and I've met some new people – including [personal profile] hafnia, who very kindly offered to beta read my latest D&D-inspired fantasy story and thereby pulled me out of the pit of editing despair. And thanks to their help, I'm calling it done.

Title: Something You Somehow Haven't to Deserve
Pairing: Ilionessar Xorlarrin/Sildar Hallwinter
Rating: NC-17
Summary: "Someday, Ilionessar, you are going to call me Sildar."
Notes: Fourth story in the Exiles from Delight series, but largely works when read alone. Title from Robert Frost's "The Death of the Hired Man." Many thanks to [personal profile] hafnia for betaing and helpful comments!

On AO3 or under the cut (since AO3's recent downtime reminded me of why I used to also post everything to my journal).

Can we tell I like putting off cleaning? Blinds are the worst, and I hate the hard flooring in our apartment because it is stupidly textured. X( Keeping my task list light because I think I feel some body things coming on, but will add things later in the week if I have the energy.

Does anyone remember back on the Paris map when Sigma and Widow had that heartbreaking interaction where Sigma asks her out on a date? (ㅠ﹏ㅠ)

I always wanted to see them in a better time when they could both break free of Talon and be happy again.

Anyway, [profile] drawsome had a Romantic challenge this month, so I drew these two for it!
