'Tis the season to feel stressed
It occurred to me yesterday that Christmas is in less than two weeks (??!) and I have done very little in terms of preparations so far, so today I went shopping for Christmas cards & dropped off my best friend's gift in the mail. I've honestly been feeling quite stressed but I hope that'll lessen once I start sending out these cards.
I'm going to spend the 24th with my lovely roommate! We're gonna do a Lord of the Rings marathon--we'll watch all 3 extended versions back-to-back. That'll keep us busy for sure. Then on the 25th my mom is picking me up for a Christmas lunch with my parents, my nephew, and my parents' BFF. I feel conflicted about it. On the one hand it's ~tradition~, but on the other... stuff that involves my parents is always really hard on me, especially around the holidays. I just hope I'll get through it relatively unscathed.
On Monday night I finished Prey and I just
I've been thinking about maybe making a WIP post where I ramble a bit about the fics I'm currently writing. I tend to be fairly withdrawn and insular about my favorite hobby, which is a bit sad--I'm so envious of writers who can just... talk about their WIPs, damn it. I tried to chat about writing on my Tumblr but that website in general just tends to give me that dreaded AllByMyself.mp3 feeling because I know how quickly posts can get buried in a deluge of reblogs. So I'm hoping that DW is more suited to my blogging style. I have a lot of WIPs so that'd be quite a huge post, haha.

And yes, please do, I love seeing things about people's fic WIPs! I totally agree on the Tumblr thing, I loved looking at fanart there but could never quite manage to strike up a meaningful conversation at will. I think DW's text-based-ness makes it a great site for talking about writing-related stuff.
What fandoms are you into writing for?

Ahh, I'm really glad that sounds interesting to you! I'm gonna compile a post soon, that should give me something to do in between writing all these damn cards lol. My main fandom is Dishonored. I've uploaded a few fics to my AO3 and it's my most prolific fandom to date. I've written for Merlin and Assassin's Creed before and I've even got a few shorter Deus Ex WIPs kicking around.
How about you? :D

i have a very hard time talking about things that i'm working on or trying to write on because i'm afraid i'll get people's hopes up and then not follow through, or that someone will give me a great idea and i'll ruin it, you know?

Oh my God, BIG MOOD. I feel you on that. Lately I've really struggled with motivation & getting the words out there because I tend to write in a vacuum--posting WIPs gives me too much anxiety, so I need to finish things before I publish them anywhere, but a lot of my fics get really long, so I need lots of stamina to sustain my own enthusiasm while finishing them. Which is why I thought it might be a nice idea to make a WIP post, to trick my brain into thinking, "hey, I've talked about the things, now I've got to deliver!" xD

I've written fic for... a little bit of everything, really, haha. I hop around a lot. Mostly video games - a lot of Fallout and Overwatch and Deus Ex currently, and I've also written a fair bit of stuff for Final Fantasy VII and Pokemon.

That sounds really cool! I'm gonna have to check out your AO3 profile! I love Fallout and Overwatch and Deus Ex fanfic :D
