*attempts to revive mostly-abandoned blog for the 65th time*
Anyway, here's the Snowflake Challenge Day 1 - In your own space, introduce yourself!
Hi, I'm Derry! I just turned 32 and use she/her pronouns. If you're here reading this, it's lovely to meet you (possibly again). ♥ I try my best to adult by day, but at night I don my fangirl cloak and browse AO3 til way past my bedtime.
I'm some form of queer; definitely bi, possibly gray-aro/ace. I love writing, reading, making any kind of art, knitting and crocheting and, more recently, sewing! My goal is to have a wardrobe full of circle skirts and petticoats, plus the confidence to wear them. I live in a suburb in the GMT+1 time zone, in a small apartment I share with Fowo, my lovely friend and roommate. I grew up in a tiny rural village & perpetually miss Nature(TM), but I am discovering some nice local areas to go on walks. I enjoy playing video games, though currently not as much as I used to, and long, romantic walks to the fridge.
I've been a consumer of media for all my life, and a writer ever since I learned how to write. What used to be stories about horses became fanfiction in my teens & got somewhat out of hand, lol. I dabble in original fiction sometimes, though haven't in a couple of years. My main fandom is Dishonored, a video game from 2012 which everyone should check out right now. Really. Go. Right now. In 2014 had something of a prolonged nervous breakdown, which caused me to abandon my budding career. I do have a degree in English Studies, and at the time was most of the way through an M.A. program which I may pick up again in the far away future. Ever since then, I've been on various medications, in and out of hospitals, in several different forms of therapy, and trying to navigate the wonderful world of mental illness. I've been too ill to work, and likely will be for some time; I'm currently in an assisted living program in which a social worker helps me adult in all ways. But I'm doing much better than I was & can proudly report that my last long hospitalization was over 3 years ago now, which is the longest I've gone un-hospitalized in the past decade. \o/
That was possibly an overshare, but all of that is a part of my life & who I am, so... Plus it's 2021 and cringe is dead and I'm not here to be ashamed.
Other fandoms include: Star Wars, The Mandalorian, the Deus Ex games, MCU, The Witcher (TV), Rurouni Kenshin, Gunnm/Battle Angel Alita, Dragon Age 2 & Inquisition, Game of Thrones (only because of Sansa & Tyrion tbh), Castlevania (TV), Doom Eternal (idk guys), Assassin's Creed, Merlin BBC, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Old Guard, Teen Wolf, Supernatural (why), Hannibal, and possibly many others that I'm forgetting.
