Hockey!
It's so funny how much faster hockey is than soccer (football)! Which is the only other team sport I've paid any prolonged attention to. The IIHF World Championship is happening right now in Switzerland & I've been watching a number of games. I have literally seen 3 goals happen within 3 minutes. One moment everyone is busy at one end of the rink, then suddenly there's a pile-up in the other half. Fun!
Germany started out playing really badly, especially against Switzerland on Monday, which ended 6:1. First period was super snappy and tight, then they fell apart. Then against the USA, of all teams, they did great (3:2 after 2nd period, but they lost in the end, by way of an apparently disputed US goal?). What the heck. According to various people who know more about hockey than me, they could still make it to the quarterfinals, but would have to win every game from now on.
I like that the referees are wearing GoPros and you can hear them sometimes. One time during Germany vs USA, people were starting to fight, and a ref skated towards them, shouting, "Hey! No!"-- in the exact way you would talk to a pet that's eating something they shouldn't. It was really funny!
I've been watching out for Situations that I might put the Heated Rivalry boys into, but nothing has really happened along those lines yet. Outside of fanfic, it turns out terrible injuries or big fights don't happen during every game. Who knew. xD
My period started on Wednesday, so I've been a bit under the weather. Summer is also rolling in, it'll be in the high 20s/low 30s for a week or so (80-90F). I'm excited!
